Shadow Knows Play

I'm a cat with sharp claws

kept retracted in paws

but an unwritten clause

says when there's some cause

they'll appear without pause

you may need some gauze...

no, cats don't have flaws

they just do it because

hold your applause

this poem is paused....

Shadow Knows Hidey-Holes

Is that me in the picture?

It is.

Why? Why would you take a picture and post it somewhere so people can see my secret hiding spot?

No one knows where this is and they aren't going to go looking for you anyway...no one, except me anyway. And you have other spots, right?

You have eliminated a few of my best now.  Two disappeared when you put those covered rolling bins under one bed.

Well, I needed the clothes in them to be easier to reach and these new bins are covered to keep cat hair out.

That's pretty specific...

What do you mean?

Cat hair.  That would be me.

I guess it would. I don't mean to offend you. I personally love the cat hair that is on YOU.  It's just that we will all be covered in it soon.

And that would be a problem because...?

It's hard to explain.

I was very happy to see that there were two UNCOVERED wooden bins filled to the brim with super clean, soft nesting clothes!  Yummy spots to sleep and hide out. I picked the one at the foot of the bed for a wonderful all day nap. Then you rolled it out from under the bed, into the light of day!

I'm sorry, but you were out of sight so long.  I was searching and searching for you!  I was very excited to see you safe and sound asleep in my nightgown...well, not IN my nightgown...but you know ON it.

Well, it was a rude awakening, so to speak.  I vowed never to use that spot again.  So, yesterday I tried the second bin up at the other end of the bed.  But no.  You found that one, too.  Thanks for rolling me out into the public domain again!

Sorry, again, but I left you overnight all by yourself and you just weren't coming out to see me!

No, I wasn't.  You didn't deserve my lapnap.  Maybe tonight.  We will see.  Meanwhile stop pointing that camera in my new spot and just pet my head.  This hidey-hole is not as comfortable as the others, but I'm sure if I keep sleeping on the edge of the curtain it will end up as a very tasteful and comfy curtain-nest down here to sleep on.

I'm going to be hemming those soon.

Yeah, right. I won't hold my purr.

Shadow's Poem

Part 1

I'm a cat that likes night

I'm sorry you might

Be sad I take flight

When darkness turns light

But some long ago fright

Has made me a sprite

That evades what is bright

I'm soon out of sight

To bask in delight

Where others take fright

I don't move with much speed

But take careful heed

I've a shadowy need....
